Arming radical Sunni organizations is an American strategy that hearkens back to the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan during the Cold War. During the Soviet occupation, the CIA armed, trained, funded, and built tunnel complexes for groups of mujaheddin that eventually became both the Taliban and Al Qaeda. AQAP in Yemen is a direct successor to Al Qaeda in Afghanistan.
As 2018 continues to usher in yet a boatload of shocks and surprises, I would like to share my opinion openly with all of you. A great con man sits in the White House, but not all is as it appears. I am someone who believes, without a doubt, that the cure for America’s ills comes from the left wing (when I say that, I mean the real left wing, not the neoliberal Democrats).
